you've got a steadier hand than I have ;P ... when I do long exposures I have a remote exposure cable thingy so I don't accidentally knock the tripod over or something... that clumsy....

yeah I usualy prefer a tripod but since I was traveling by plane to see my girlfriend, the tripod was too big so I couldn't bring it with me,
The trick is to stand as steady as you can, even try to suppress and movement that might be caused by breathing,
You could try holding your breath when taking the shot aswell as be relaxed as possible to try and slow your heartbeat, :meditate:
The main trick to it all is to shoot in burst mode holding down the shutter button, this way the shots in the middle of the burst are least affected by camera shake caused by pressing the shutter button,
Ofcourse image stabalizing in the camera would be a plus, but my camera doesn't have it so this tecnique works for me.
Takes alot of practice and most of the shots probably won't come out so take plenty of shots ;)
out of this set only about 1/4 of the shots came out with realitivly low camera shake.

The only shooting I do is with my camera,
The only hunting I do is for the right image.

I don't have anything like burst shooting or image stabilizing on my camera cos it's a film SLR :P ... yay for old technology :D

although with a film SLR you could probably use a film with a faster exposure rating than the prosumer digitals out now,
I'm not sure about the quality of faster films though because I have limited experience with film.

the problem with faster films is that they're lower quality... the grain on the film is a lot bigger... hence why it's more for taking photographs of things moving at high speeds rather than low light levels... you can't get very big prints from it... the fastest I have is 800iso... I've not used it yet, the slowest I've used is 100... which is ok so long as it's sunny... the pictures you get are really high quality though

I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by.

Thank you,
Just lots of practice, :)
I remember when I had trouble holding it still for 1/30th of a sec for a wide shot back in January

Yeah very true,
Although I've seen people impliment the use of grain into their image rather well.

yup... it's annoying when you have a great picture... then you look at it and think "if only it wasn't so grainy*.... grain can be added in photoshop if you think an image needs it :P
